Top Travel Essentials For Your Holiday

We all look forward to the holidays, but let's not fool ourselves into thinking that packing isn't stressful! How can you choose which of the countless items you want to pack in your bag are actually essential for travel?

Top travel essentials

The first items that should be going in your suitcase are;

  • Your passport / visa / travel insurance documents
  • Boarding pass – unless this can be downloaded onto your phone, then don’t forget your mobile
  • Devices / chargers
  • Correct currency or money travel card
  • Emergency contact details
  • First aid kit – this should include any prescription medication you may have, travel sickness medication, allergy relief, as well as antimalarials.

These items are by far the most important as they will help keep you safe on your travels.

travel items for your holiday

  • Sun cream / after sun – No matter what the climate, you should always wear sun protection if it’s sunny outside. Why not give a lip balm a try as well?
  • Toothbrush / toothpaste – Nobody wants to arrive at their hotel after a long trip only to discover they forgot to carry their toothbrush.
  • Deodorant – You can carry a roll-on deodorant to save space.
  • Shampoo / conditioner – No one enjoys the way their hair feels after being exposed to saltwater and sand, so for that revitalised, vacation sensation, use argon oil of Morocco shampoo or Palmer’s coconut formula conditioner.
  • Wet wipes – Wet wipes are indispensable for festival and vacation goers, whether they are solo travellers in style or going with the family. You never know when an unforeseen spill will occur.
  • Travel towel – Even if you’re not travelling light, it’s always best to purchase a travel towel before your holiday. Travel towels are lightweight, compact and quick to dry.
  • Skincare – Everyone’s skin care routine is unique, so we recommend you purchase re-usable travel-sized bottles to pour your favourite products into before your holiday. If you would like to try something new, check out our full skincare range.
  • Flight socks – Can reduce the risk of DVT (deep vein thrombosis) during travel by compressing your legs to improve circulation and comfort.
  • Ear buds – long distance travel can be challenging enough without all the background noise. Be sure to pack ear buds to block out all of that chatter so you can get some much-needed rest. You should never finish a holiday more tired than when you first started!

The amount of outfits you need will depend on where you’re going and how long you’ll be travelling. Don’t forget to take appropriate footwear, socks, and undergarments.

Best way to sleep on a plane

Especially if you are an anxious flier, avoiding coffee is an excellent method to keep from getting restless during a flight. The position of your seat can have a significant impact on your experience, depending on how you like to sleep. If at all feasible, we advise choosing a window seat so you can lean against the side of the cabin. From this position, you may also adjust the curtain to block any sun glare.

We always advise bringing a travel pillow and donning loose-fitting, comfortable attire.

how long does it take to get a passport?

If you’re an adult living in the UK and you need to replace or renew your passport, the process can cost up to £85 and take three weeks. Because of this, we advise that you allow plenty of time to complete this before departing on your vacation. To avoid any unwelcome delays, avoid travelling during the high travel season between spring and summer. Find out more by going to gov.uk.
